Russia, China seal ATM optimisation deal

Russia’s air navigation service provider State ATM Corporation has signed a protocol with its Chinese counterpart to harmonise their respective systems to support aircraft flying across state borders.

Federal air transport agency Rosaviatsiya said the provider had held discussions at the 2016 China-Russia CNS/ATM coordination meeting with China’s ATMB between 20-21 September in Shanghai.

The two providers have agreed in principle on a number of key issues, including:

  • opening new corridors spanning the state border between China and Russia;
  • lowering levels of two existing corridors spanning the state border between China and Russia;
  • improving the ATC procedures in centres in Russia and China where aircraft cross state borders;
  • developing automated interaction between neighbouring ATC centres in Russia and China;
  • furthering collaboration between national air navigation service providers and aviation authorities.
