A4A names veteran Cirillo as ATM chief

Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organisation for the leading US airlines, has named industry veteran Michael Cirillo as managing director for air traffic management.

Cirillo, who brings more than 35 years of experience in air traffic planning, procedures and system development, joins A4A following a distinguished career at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) where he held several roles over the course of his tenure, including Deputy Assistant Administrator for Regions and Center Operations, Alaskan Regional Administrator and Vice President for System Operations Services. Prior to joining the FAA, Cirillo was an Air Traffic Control Specialist in the US Air Force.

At A4A, Cirillo will report to Paul McGraw, vice president for operations and safety, and play a key role in providing strategic direction and assistance to the A4A Air Traffic Control Council in the development of policies and procedures that will accelerate the benefits of FAA’s Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen).

“Mike Cirillo is highly respected within the aviation industry for his leadership and commitment to improving our nation’s air traffic control services,” said Dan Elwell, A4A’s Senior Vice President of Safety, Security and Operations. “Mike’s decades of air traffic management experience will be a positive addition to A4A, our members and the customers they serve.”
