SELEX ILS for US Air Force

SELEX Systems Integration, part of the Finmeccanica group, recently completed several key programme milestones on its portion of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) modernisation contract with the US Air Force (USAF) and will now begin production and delivery of its Model 2100 ILS system for the contract.

As part of a subcontract to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), the Model 2100 system successfully passed Design Qualification Testing, First Article Testing, a Functional Configuration Audit, and Operational Readiness Testing. Starting in July 2012, production units will be delivered to SAIC, who will install and commission the systems for the USAF.

Under SAIC’s prime contract, SELEX Systems Integration will produce and deliver the initial production release, including localizer and glide slope systems, as well as produce and deliver additional units that were ordered in a modification received soon after the initial release. SELEX Systems Integration Inc. is the sole provider of ILS for the USAF; the company supplies equipment for domestic, foreign, and joint-use bases.

SELEX Systems Integration is the wholly- owned U.S. subsidiary of SELEX Sistemi Integrati, SpA – a Finmeccanica, SpA company headquartered in Rome, Italy. SELEX Systems Integration Inc. designs, produces and supports advanced ground-based navigation, precision landing and surveillance systems in Overland Park, Kansas.
