The new CERTIUM radios and voice communications systems will provide Vietnamese regional towers with reliable communications and a state-of-the-art air traffic control solution.

Rohde & Schwarz and its local partner have been contracted by the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to equip nine regional towers across the country with reliable communications solutions. Rohde & Schwarz will provide the R&S Series5200, the most innovative air traffic control (ATC) radio on the market, in addition to CERTIUM VCS-4G, the company's IP based voice communications system. These are both part of CERTIUM, an advanced communications suite for ATC from the microphone to the antenna.

"Rohde & Schwarz is proud to provide VATM with the latest communications technology," says Marius Münstermann, Vice President ATC at Rohde & Schwarz. "We have a long and successful relationship with our Vietnamese customer, whom I visited personally to discuss how to strengthen their air traffic management capabilities. From the controller working position to the antenna, our integrated all-in-one, IP based solution gives VATM highly secure, safe and reliable ATC communications with excellent RF performance."

The new R&S Series5200 radios represent the next generation of VHF and UHF radios for ATC communications, increasing system reliability with a new security-by-design architecture to make air travel even more secure. The radios are future-proof; later system expansions will require no additional hardware thanks to the software defined radio concept.

CERTIUM VCS-4G is the most innovative full IP based voice communications system on the market, combining rich functionality with excellent usability for seamless airspace operations. CERTIUM VCS-4G utilizes all the advantages of IP technology and provides high security, innovative resilience and easy administration.
