IAA Chief Executive, Mr Peter Kearney has taken over as Chair of A6 Alliance from Mr. Ángel Luis Arias, Director General ENAIRE, the Spanish Air Navigation Service Provider, effective 1 January 2023. The A6 alliance includes the leading air navigation service providers (ANSP) who are responsible for the safe management of more than 80% of air traffic in Europe and approximately  70% of R&D investments in the future European air traffic management infrastructure.

Peter Kearney said this alliance, as a key and essential group in the European Air Traffic Management sector, will lead and undertake concrete actions to meet the challenges the aviation sector faces. “Our members are committed to modernizing and improving the efficiency of air traffic management at a European level through our leadership in critical technical and strategic areas. Under the leadership of COOPANs, the A6 Alliance will continue to strengthen the joint collaboration and commitment of its members by improving the ATM performance for our customers across the continent” he said.

Building on the momentum from 2022, A6 Alliance priorities in 2023 include:

  • Define, develop and deploy innovative technological solutions and operational procedures through participation and taking the lead in key digitalisation projects which will deliver a modernized and sustainable ATM for European skies.
  • Engagement with aviation sector stakeholders on ANSP service provision considerations and planning for 2023 air traffic management in conjunction with the European Commission and Eurocontrol’s Network Manager.
