Transat-Air Canada Merger Pushed Back
Air Canada’s purchase of tour operator Transat AT, which owns Air Transat, has been pushed back into the fourth quarter of this year due to “certain factors beyond its control and related to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Which Aircraft is Leaving Air Canada with Immediate Effect?
In a bid to reduce its costs, Air Canada is accelerating the retirement of 79 older aircraft from its fleet including the Boeing 767, Airbus A319 and Embraer E190, with the latter exiting immediately. The decision comes as the flag carrier revealed a C$1bn (£599m) net loss for the first quarter, compared to a C$345m (£197m) profit for the same period last year.
