NATS new Nucleus

8 March 2010

March 8: UK air traffic services provider NATS has announced the introduction of a “new way of managing critical aeronautical data and information” for its customers with ‘Nucleus’, a centrally managed database of “all aviation data”.

NATS is demonstrating Nucleus at ATC Global in Amsterdam, Netherlands this week. The European Union’s Single European Sky legislation will demand far more robust practices for managing data from 2012. NATS says that Nucleus has been developed to meet these new requirements and is the “only solution on the market today to ensure compliance”.

NATS Services Head of Aeronautical Information Management, Stef Malan said “Nucleus means data management can now be automated, with complete confidence and a high degree of accuracy. The application uses its own update cycle to ensure all data recorded from disparate sources is handled accurately, is traceable and can be audited. It’s simple and effective and we believe it’s a new way forward.”
