My client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of aerospace, space and defence industry products. They are based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire and are now seeking a Master Scheduler on a contract basis.

This contract opportunity is for 6 months initially, with the possibility of extension, working a 37 hour week.

The successful candidate will typically work on 20-30 projects at any one time within the Communication Products Group (CPG). This includes telecommunications and satellite systems. The successful candidate will:

  • Generate and maintain schedules
  • Monitor and manage progress and priorities
  • Report to the Head of Proposals and Projects of the CPG

The role will include the following tasks:

  • Gather and update planning data and take a major part in planning decisions
  • Assist teams to identify and improve critical paths
  • Perform rapid “what if” planning assessments
  • Assist project managers to pre-empt progress delays and to draft and implement avoidance plans
  • Planning in support of bids
  • Develop a database of historic planning i.e. lead times etc.
  • Draft one page summary plans for presentation at reviews
  • Maintain on time delivery statistics
  • Develop multi project planning to speed capital expenditure decisions
  • Regular interaction with multi functional project team and functional managers
  • Presentation of planning data to CPG management and internal/external customers

Ideal candidate profile:

  • Intermediate/expert level with Primavera P6
  • Intermediate/expert level with MS Project
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive in communication and decision making
  • Rapid adaptability in a fast moving environment
  • Excellent analytical, questioning and problem solving skills

Other requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
    • 5+years of experience as a lead/master scheduler within a multi functional and multi site team engineering environment
