Role: Cargo Duty Manager

Location: Gatwick Airport (Horley RH6)

Contract: Permanent Contract – Full Time Hours

Shifts: Mix of shifts up to 12 hours in length (including day and night shifts) 100% flexibility is needed.

Shift pattern;

  • 4 days on, 4 days off –The shift patterns are variable and will depend upon the needs of the business.
  • You will be contracted to a 42 hour working week, but due to the nature of the role flexibility is essential.
  • Weekends and Bank Holiday working required where shift pattern dictates

Package: Approximately £42,500.00 to £47,000.00 per annum depending on experience. There will also be a salary increase one you have successfully passed your probation.

The role:

  • Working for a Major Cargo/Ground Handling Organisation
  • Ensure the smooth running of the facility
  • Maintain customer service levels to a high standard
  • Manage health and safety within the workplace
  • Deal with staff issues on a day to day basis
  • Liaise with Lead Agent / Hand in respect of all operational matters
  • Support the Cargo Business Manager in all areas of the business

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Maintain workable levels to ensure productive use of resources through management of holidays, shift swaps, and overtime
  • Monitoring quality performance to standards laid down in ISO 9002 and responding to quality Discrepancy Reports.
  • Responsible for ensuring all CAA requirements are met
  • Conducting operational meetings to improve efficiency & morale
  • Maintain a disciplined workforce and to ensure that all staff adhere to the company handbook and contract of employment and take corrective action where necessary
  • Undertake staff appraisals
  • Verbal communication with all contractors and suppliers who attend the premises and issue work permits for maintenance carried out in the facility
  • Maintain safe working practices including keeping and maintaining risk assessments in line with the company health and safety policy
  • Monitor equipment use in line with operating instructions and health and safety regulations including retention of supporting check sheets
  • Prompt accident reporting completion of accident book and initial accident report
  • To report on tonnage figures and man hour analysis to the CBM
  • To plan future changes in operational needs and develop new working practices


  • MUST have previous managerial experience
  • MUST have a full manual UK driving licence
  • MUST have not lived/worked outside of the UK in the past 5 years
  • MUST not have any unspent criminal convictions or cautions
  • MUST be aged 18+
