Russian carrier signs for 4 A380s

Russia’s Transaero Airlines has firmed up its order for four  A380s from European airframer Airbus.

The preliminary memorandum of understanding for the aircraft was signed in October 2011. The four firm orders are worth a total of $1.5 billion on the basis of list prices.

Airbus said that Transaero will become the first customer for the A380 aircraft in Russia and Eastern Europe. The Russian carrier plans to start operations with the A380 on its long-range network of high density routes from Moscow, said Airbus. The order brings the total number of A380 ordered worldwide to 257 aircraft.
