Norway’s Jotron signals July 1 merger

Norway’s Jotron Group is to merge several divisions in a bid to better focus on its air and maritime communications business.

Jotron AS, Jotron Phontech AS and Jotron SatCom AS will now be known simply as  Jotron AS which will after the July 1 merger have an annual turnover of $53.16m and 150 employees.

“This merger and the sales of Jotron Consultas AS, will allow Jotron to fully focus on our core businesses: communication products and systems for maritime, land and air applications,” said Magnus Vold, managing director of Jotron AS. “It will allow us to consolidate our sales, R&D and production resources to expand the business and better serve our customers worldwide.”

Jotron entered the ATC market in 1974 with the launch of the 5000 series VHF receiver. In 1975, Jotron completed the development of Low Level Modulation and launched the 5000 series VHF transmitter, the world’s first product of its kind, which is now used by all radio manufacturers.

In 1980, it won its first export contract for ATC radios and have since then delivered more than 12,000 radios to more than 700 airports in more than 100 countries on all continents.
