Serco and DFS reinforce Middle East activities

Serco Middle East has announced it has reached an agreement with DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung, the German air navigation service provider, to reinforce their joint business activities in the Middle East.

The partnership is based on an existing Memorandum of Understanding, signed three years ago.

Together, Serco and DFS will endeavor to promote a safer and more efficient use of airspace through the use and implementation of the latest software solutions and Communication-Navigation-Surveillance, Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) and simulation infrastructure.

With the combined technological and operational expertise of DFS and Serco we will be able to deliver turnkey solutions and quality services that will benefit all stakeholders”, said Dieter Kaden, Chairman and CEO of DFS.

Serco has been providing air traffic control and engineering services to governments and civil aviation authorities in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates for more than 60 years. Its service offerings include meteorology, rescue and fire fighting as well as safety management consultancy services. Serco works in partnership with its clients in control towers and eight International Airports and three area control centres in Bahrain, Iraq and the UAE.

DFS has been providing air navigation services in Germany for more than 50 years. Today staff coordinate up to three million aircraft movements every year. This makes Germany the country with the highest traffic volume in Europe. DFS provides consulting services and simulations to other aviation organizations worldwide. Additionally, the company develops and sells air traffic management systems. In the Middle East, DFS is currently realizing projects in Doha and Bahrain.
